Welcome to Ruth's Remedies!

Welcome to the first blog for Ruth's Remedies! The purpose of this blog is to present remedies from nature, (usually ones common to your home) that God has provided for healing and medicinal uses. It is my belief that choosing a natural method of healing does not have to be costly. I will go to great lengths to research cost effective remedies for everyday use. I am not a doctor, if you try any of these remedies, it is by your choice, and not by  a prescription from me, please, if you are in need of serious help, seek out a professional. The premise of this blog is to provide natural health education based solely on research and findings.
Review: November 11, 2014
I am involved in a group called the LOV Chapters, to find out more about them click here: http://www.lovchaptersearth.org/
We have an open call every Tuesday night, and post the archives on You Tube and Facebook, and on the LOV Chapters website. There are several segments, and the information is life applicable. My segment is on health, and I am going to use this blog to supplement my segment. My hope is that you find the information practical and useful!

On the LOV Chapters call, we went over the medicinal uses of :
  • Ginseng- Fortifies the immune system and helps the body fight off colds, fatigue, and stress. Individuals who regularly consume ginseng report improvements in mood, energy levels, and general well-being.
  • Ginkgo-Scientific literature supports the plant’s enhancement of alertness and cognitive performance; positive mood, improved sleep and hormonal equilibrium have also been credited to the regular consumption of ginkgo. Proper blood flow and other health benefits attributed to ginkgo include detoxification, decrease in bad cholesterol, reduction of blood coagulation, relief from asthma, cramps and headaches, especially in women and children.
  • Garlic-Valued for its antibiotic, antiviral, properties. It is one of the most effective antimicrobial plants available and one of the best remedies for colds, flu, poor circulation, motion and morning sickness, menstrual irregularities and discomfort.
  •  ( Next week we will dive into garlic even more!)

Medicinal Recipes for Garlic

Garlic tea:
Boil 4 cups of filtered water, and cool slightly. Add 4-5 cloves of finely chopped or crushed organic garlic, fresh lemon juice and raw, unprocessed honey to taste. Drink 3-4 cups daily, either warm or cold, but do not re-boil the solution (it will neutralize the healing properties).
Honey garlic syrup:
Crush ½-1 clove garlic and place on a tablespoon. Pour raw, unprocessed honey onto the spoon. Ingest the spoonful of honey garlic syrup, every 4-6 hours, as needed.
Fresh garlic juice:
Juice only enough cloves to produce ¼-1 teaspoon juice. Mix with raw honey or fruit juice to taste. Take every 4-6 hours, as needed.
Garlic tincture:
Chop enough garlic to make one cup full. Pour into a Mason jar. Add 2 cups vodka or grain alcohol (or vinegar) and screw the lid on. Write the date on the jar.
Shake the jar daily for 2 weeks. After 2 weeks, strain out the chopped garlic and store the tincture in dark labeled bottles, located in a cool dark area. Use 5 drops, 4 times daily as needed.
Garlic oil:
Slowly cook  garlic in extra virgin olive oil and strain. Pour into a small dark bottle with a dropper top. Warm by placing the bottle in a pot of water warming on the stove. Always drop a drop on your wrist to check the temperature of the oil. It should be comfortably warm and not hot. Then drop into the ear and place a large cotton on the ear. The warm oil will comfort the pain in the ear, and the garlic is a natural antibiotic, helping get rid of the ear infection.
